​We identified a need to cultivate professional talent with integrity, irrespective of age or race, and provide them with exposure to the world of music performance. The inspiration behind HMCA is to offer high-quality instruction and skills to students through a curriculum-based approach with private lessons. Whether you are 5 years old or 55 years old, the objective is to develop skilled professionals who are recognized for their creativity and expertise.

Meet Our Founder

Corey Hutto is a distinguished drummer and bassist with an illustrious career spanning more than two decades. He began his musical journey with a bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University in 2012, followed by advanced training at the Atlanta Institute of Music in 2013. Corey further honed his craft by earning a master's degree from Central Michigan University in 2018. He is currently pursuing his doctorate from Franklin University.


Corey's versatility across multiple genres—including rock, alternative, jazz, Latin, fusion, and gospel—has made him a sought-after musician and educator. Since 2012, he has been dedicated to teaching and sharing his extensive knowledge and passion for music with students of all levels.

 

With over 20 years of professional performance experience, Corey has collaborated with an array of esteemed artists and bands. He has performed with notable names such as Rita Marley, Betty Wright, Chico Debarge, The Craig Lewis Band, and the Daughters of Soul (featuring Carla Cooke, Rhonda Ross, and Robyn Charles). His dynamic stage presence has captivated audiences across the country, solidifying his reputation as a prominent figure in the music scene.


As an active session drummer in the Atlanta area, Corey has also made significant contributions to various film and television projects. His work includes performances for National Geographic's Genius: Aretha Franklin, BET's American Soul, NBC's Ordinary Joe, Netflix Sweet Magnolias, Peacock Hysteria and ABC's The Wonder Years (Reboot). These credits underscore Corey's versatility and ability to adapt his skills to a wide range of musical contexts.


Corey Hutto’s commitment to his craft and extensive experience make him a remarkable talent in the music industry. His contributions continue to inspire and influence his peers and the next generation of musicians.
